The result showed that most of the social studies teachers in secondary school in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area were not proficient in the use of ICT resources to teach, research and assess students. It was revealed also that social studies secondary school teachers in the area of study perceived ICTs as very useful in their teaching specifically in improving and enhancing the quality of their teaching. Effect of Cooperative Learning with Focus on Jigsaw Model on Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement in Chemistry

Abstract
The study aimed at investigating the effect of cooperative learning with focus on Jigsaw model on secondary school students’ academic achievement in chemistry in Jalingo Education Zone, Taraba State, Nigeria. Quasi-experimental design was used for the study. The population consisted of all Secondary School II (SSII) students. A total of 151 students were sampled using multiple stage sampling technique. Two intact classes were randomly selected and assigned to the experimental and control groups. Chemistry Achievement Test (CAT) was used for data collection with the reliability index of 0.82. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while the null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA). The finding showed that there is a significant difference between the mean achievements scores of students taught chemistry with Jigsaw II model than those taught with lecture method. There is no significant difference between the mean achievement scores of male and female students taught chemistry with Jigsaw II model. Based on the findings, it is evident to conclude that the use of Jigsaw II model enhances performance of students in chemistry than the Lecture method. Therefore, it is recommended amongst others that classroom enabling environment should be provided so as to enable easy adoption of cooperative learning (Jigsaw II model) during Chemistry lessons
