Abstract
This study determines the effective strategies for funding education for national development. The federal government recognizes the fact that education is an indispensable instrument or tools for solving the social, economic, political and technological problems of the nation. The study presents the state of education and educational funding for national development. The study emphasizes the sources and problems of funding education in Nigeria. It highlights the importance of funding education in Nigeria. Finally there are conclusion and recommendation including that federal government should encourage the installation of a politically stable government; there should be stable policies in education: government should provide enough funds for education ; the federal and state government and their agencies should not embezzle funds for education ; Administrators should not receive gratification as compensation for awarding contract and the federal government should improve its method of disbursing funds to education institutions among others.
